Cardiologists Receive National Recognition

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), the American Heart Association, and the American Stroke Association recently gave accreditation to eight physicians in the Heart and Vascular Center at Rockford Health System for the quality care they provide to their patients.

Locally, they are the only doctors to receive this accreditation. In fact, only 33 doctors statewide were recognized.

To achieve recognition under the NCQA/American Heart Association/American Stroke Association heart/stroke recognition program, individual physicians or medical groups submitted performance data related to their treatment of patients who have cardiovascular disease or who have suffered a stroke. The data is evaluated against American Heart Association/American Stroke Association clinical guidelines and NCQA HEDIS® measures.

The Heart and Vascular Center at Rockford Health System, located in the Rockford Medical Building at 2350 N. Rockton Avenue, offers an innovative, leading approach to heart and vascular care. We were the first in the region to offer a one-stop, multi-physician facility.

Rockford Health System partners with Cardiac Surgery Associates, S.C. (C.S.A.), Chicago's premier leader in cardiac, thoracic and peripheral vascular surgery. Our two cardiothoracic surgeons have a combined 45 years experience. We offer the finest, experienced physicians right here in Rockford.

The Heart and Vascular Center at Rockford Health System offers state-of-the-art facilities, including the latest diagnostic and imaging equipment, as well as the region’s only cardiac catheterization laboratory located adjacent to the Level I Trauma Center and open heart operating rooms. This provides a fast response to those who are in cardiac distress. The Heart and Vascular Center also offers the area's only accredited Echo Laboratory, as well as the area's only accredited non-invasive vascular laboratory.
