Children’s Medical Center

The Children’s Medical Center at Rockford Health System offers the most advanced care for newborns and children in the region. We are recognized by the Illinois Department of Public Health as a Pediatric Critical Care Center. This distinction makes us one of only eight hospitals in Illinois recognized for providing the highest level of specialized critical care and emergency care services to children.

At Rockford Memorial Hospital, you’ll find the region’s only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the region's only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and a Pediatric Unit. The physicians at the hospital, including neonatologists, hospitalists, and intensivists, are specifically trained to care for hospitalized children. They’ll work with your child’s pediatrician, as well as a variety of specialists, to get your child back to good health.  The Department of Child Development and Behavior offers a variety of treatments and services for both inpatients and outpatients. And, the Child Life Services focus on the emotional, educational and developmental needs of each patient and family.

Families from throughout the region bring their children to Rockford Memorial Hospital for a variety of surgeries.  To help prepare your family for the day of the surgery, we've produced a video.  To watch it, click here.
