Colorectal Cancer Screening

  • Colorectal cancer is America’s number two cancer killer, yet it is one of the most preventable types of cancer. It is often curable when detected early.
  • The lifetime risk of colorectal cancer is roughly equal in men and women.
  • If you are 50 or older, you need to get tested for colorectal cancer. If you have a family history of colorectal cancer, you may need earlier screening.
  • It’s now recommended that African Americans begin colorectal cancer screenings at age 45 rather than age 50.

  • More than 60 million Americans have heartburn symptoms at least once a month.
  • Heartburn can be a sign of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Without prescription medication, GERD can cause inflammation, ulcers, and precancerous changes in the lining of the esophagus.
