Perinatal Center

The Perinatal Center at Rockford Health System offers the highest level of care for both mom and baby. Our services, which are unmatched in the area, include:

  • A maternal-fetal medicine department and high-risk perinatal unit for expectant moms who have complications;
  • Obstetricians and anesthesiologists in the hospital 24 hours a day, seven days a week;
  • A labor and delivery unit with 12 labor rooms, six delivery rooms, and two C-section rooms;
  • A Women & Infants unit with 21 postpartum rooms;
  • A Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for even the tiniest babies; and
  • Certified lactation consultants for breastfeeding support.

Certified Nurse Midwives

Certified nurse midwives (CNMs) help more than 300,000 women give birth each year in the United States. They provide healthcare to women all through life, including:

  • Prenatal care;
  • Birth;
  • Care after birth;
  • Care for the new baby;
  • Annual exams;
  • Birth control planning;
  • Menopause; and
  • Health counseling.

We offer CNM services—including a Centering for Pregnancy Program—at two locations:

  • Rockford Health Physicians – North Rockton Avenue
  • Rockford Health Physicians – Mulford
