Rockford Health System, along with Rockford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, announced the winners of the 2014 Minority Scholarship Awards. Twelve minority nursing students received $2,000 each toward their 2014-2015 educational expenses. The recipients are African-American or Spanish-speaking Hispanic nursing students. Three of the Hispanic scholarships are funded by the Rockford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. The winners are:

Rockford Health System recognizes the importance of diversity in the local health care work force. RHS worked with the hospital auxiliary to create the scholarship program in 2008 to encourage minority nursing students in their education. Since that time the program has given nearly $70,000 to African American and Hispanic nursing students.

While these scholarships do not require employment at Rockford Health System, we hope these future nurses will choose to work with our team.
