Auxiliary Thrift Shop

The Auxiliary Thrift Shop at Rockford Health System grew from Rockford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s Big Top Rummage Sale, which began with attic sales in 1923 and grew to be the “World’s Largest” rummage sale in 1975. In 1989, we expanded into a year-round thrift shop and this current facility opened in 1993.

The 3,900 square foot shop, located at 2830 Glenwood Avenue, has a bright, colorful sales floor and private dressing rooms.  The shop is staffed by a manager, assistant, and approximately 40 volunteers.

At the Auxiliary Thrift Shop you’ll find furniture, antiques & collectibles, housewares, clothing, books, jewelry, linens and much more.  Donations are welcome anytime during open hours and are tax deductible.

Proceeds for the Auxiliary Thrift Shop, as well as from the Auxiliary Gift Shop, benefit a variety of programs at Rockford Health System, including scholarships; student loans and grants for employees; the High Risk Perinatal Activity Program, which provides craft materials for moms who are on bed rest for long periods of time; the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, which offers free dental and medical care to uninsured and underinsured children; medical equipment for many hospital units; as well as many renovation projects throughout the hospital including the Women & Infant Services, Pediatric Unit and the Pediatric Outpatient Unit.

Thrift Shop hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Contact us at (815) 971-4156.
